SSH Telnet
Find out more about the Telnet protocol and its usage.
Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote machine or to exchange data between a website hosting server and a client. Due to the fact that the data exchanged by the two sides is protected, a 3rd party won't be able to intercept it, which makes SSH a favored means of controlling a web hosting account. The commands that may be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, for instance, the alternatives are limited as you simply won't have root access to the hosting server, so you could only create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, etc. These are all actions that are executed inside the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to install server-side software or to restart the web server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, but if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are a lot of apps for other OSs, you can employ to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Hosting
SSH access is available with all
Linux hosting which we offer. With some of them, it's offered as standard, while with others it's an optional upgrade that you can add with just a few mouse clicks from your hosting CP. You could get SSH access through the section related to it where you will also find the information you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You may select the password which you will use and, if necessary, you'll be able to change it with a few clicks from the same location. All of the commands that can be used with our shared packages are listed within a help article together with relevant instances. If the SSH access function is allowed for your account, you shall also be able to upload files using your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you have a
semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to obtain SSH access to it with just a mouse click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, supplied with all accounts. If your package does not support this function by default, you will be able to include it without difficulty through the Upgrades menu. As soon as you go to the SSH section, you'll find the info which you need to connect to the server via a command line or a desktop app - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter could be updated at any time, if necessary. These login credentials are also essential if you want to upload files through a secure connection and you would like to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service that we provide you with. An extensive list of the commands that you can execute will provide you with a better idea of what tasks you can perform within your account and each is accompanied by a number of examples of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS
You will be able to use SSH to manage your content irrespective of which
Linux virtual private servers you select when you sign up, since all our plans offer this function as standard. You'll not have to include or enable anything manually - the moment your website hosting server is prepared and you get the Welcome e mail with the login info, you'll be able to connect and start working on your web sites or any software that you would like to set up and run on the web server. You'll have root-level access to the VPS and because the account will be isolated from the other accounts on the physical web server, you'll be able to do anything you would like without any restrictions. You could install any app you require and that will run on a Linux-based machine, reboot any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and manage your files and databases easily and quickly.
